Advancing the understanding and treatment of cancer

Onco Company Background

ONCO, Inc. was founded in 1984 by Ted Williamson, M.D., Radiation Oncologist. ONCO introduced the first networked registry system in 1985 and continued to develop and support a market-leading application. Windows ONCOLOG Registry Software, built to combine the benefits of an open client access with true, enterprise-wide operation, was released in 1998. This application offers unparalleled flexibility to add unlimited user-defined fields of any type and create user-defined tables within the database.

ONCO, Inc. underwent a complete technical transformation in 1999, welcoming a team of technical experts well versed in database management, software development, and data conversions. This addition to the ONCO team immediately brought product improvements, software enhancements, and increased client satisfaction. ONCO’s commitment to providing the highest level of client support is evident, with an experienced team offering both clinical and technical expertise. To accommodate phenomenal growth, ONCO has established offices throughout the country to ensure complete client satisfaction.

In 2003, ONCO introduced the Protocol Data Manager Software. Working in conjunction with one of the leading university research hospitals in the country, ONCO designed the Protocol Data Manager to track all protocol related tasks and activities while providing complete lists of “TO DO” activities for patients and Clinical Research Associates alike. In addition, this application contains comprehensive reporting, searching, and financial tracking capabilities.

ONCO is also proud to present the world's first Late Effects Tracking system, designed to support the monitoring, documentation and analysis of the long term consequences of cancer and its treatment.

In order to meet the needs of a growing client base with varied needs, ONCO’s innovative team worked to develop electronic solutions to transform work flow processes in the registry. In 2005, ONCO introduced Casefinding/Importing, QuickLog, and DeathLog Modules. These enhancements to the existing software streamline processes electronically and eliminate many of the manual processes plaguing registries today. Implementation of these modules directly impacts registrar productivity and efficiency.

In 2006, eOutcomes was welcomed into the ONCO Suite of Oncology Data Management Software Solutions. eOutcomes specializes in web-based applications to streamline manual processes.  Physician Staging Manager and Follow-up Manager allow physicians to access a secure password protected website and complete staging and follow-up information online. Completed information is then imported back into the registry database, eliminating the associated manual processes.

ONCO introduced the Site Specific Outcomes Database in 2007. This database takes full advantage of our extensive clinical and technical expertise to collect and manage comprehensive data specific to disease site for analysis. In addition to basic screening, diagnostic, and treatment information, centers can collect an unlimited number of additional data elements to meet specific needs; even patients without a definitive diagnosis of cancer but at high risk can be monitored and followed utilizing this database.

ONCO, Inc. is dedicated to providing progressive facilities with innovative software applications to meet the ever changing needs of oncology data management. This commitment has allowed ONCO to be a leader in the Oncology Data Management Software marketplace, serving clients on both the national and international level.

ONCO’s executive leadership is provided by James Hendrickson, President.

Ted Williamson, M.D., PhD, CTR continues to serve as ONCO’s Medical Director.
